Finally the hardware fitted by our skilled fabricators and the glazing bead is measured, cut and fitted. This Irish oak window is sitting in our showroom for all to see.
Bowater DUO composite doors: How they're made
For this video we had exclusive access to the Bowater doors factory as they manufactured one of their Bowater DUO Composite Doors. As we follow the door leaf around their factory we watch as the PVCu sub-frame is cut, prepped for the handle and lock and reinforced with galvanised steel before being fusion welded together. The GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) skins are then bonded to the PVCu sub-frame and placed in a press while the bonding agent cures. Next we see the polyurethane foam being pumped into the door under pressure, the amount of foam is carefully calculated to ensure the door does not bow as it expands. Finally the door gets placed on the CNC machine and the holes for the glass, handles and any other furniture such as door knockers and letter plates are cut. The door you see being made in this video was finished off in our factory and then installed by one of our trade customers.
Solidor real life security test
Security is always top of the list when home owners are looking for a new door and as this video shows the Solidor range of composite doors help keep your home safe from would be intruders with ease. Watch as a would-be intruder firstly attempts to gain access by bypassing the handle. Next he tries to prise the door leaf away from the frame using a crowbar on both the lock side and the hinge side, but the combination of our galvanised steel reinforced frame and the solid timber core of the Solidor leaf proves to be a winning combination as in the end the intruder gives up and tries something else. Finally in a last ditch attempt, he tries to cut through the skin. It's only now that he realises that he's fighting a losing battle and resorts to trying to break through with a sledge hammer. As you can see, he has caused quite a bit of damage to the door but he didn't gain access to the property.

Why we use Swiss Spacer
SWISSPACER is at the heart of Aztecs high quality energy saving windows. Warm edge spacer bars insulate the edges of an energy efficient sealed unit. They keep the panes of glass apart and maintain the integrity of the air gap that insulates your home from heat loss through your windows and doors.

Winkhaus AV3 Locking System
Manufactured by Winkhaus in Germany, the AV3 locking system means it's is no longer is it necessary to lift the handle lever to engage the hook locking mechanism. This has often been difficult for the elderly and the infirm and puts their security at risk. There is a clear indication from the Police that it is not uncommon for doors to be closed just on the latch because of difficulties lifting handles - a fact well known to potential burglars! .
